Through Rose Tinted
By
CC Champagne
A childhood memory through rose-tinted glasses,
is a dream I want to maintain.

The aroma of my grandmother's cinnamon buns,

I wish I was there again.
The softness of her loving embrace,
the ease of life at that age,
when the future is all unwritten,
and life is a blank, white page.

A childhood memory through rose-tinted glasses,

is a dream I want to maintain.
But in my mind, whatever my age,
I can revisit it all again.

Writers and Novelists
By

Birth :
Words flow through a hand
writings its own mind by a pen
A new page written every time
as a new day dawns.
I flow with every move
of that invisible fingers
Marriage:
Open the index that points to
the sweet twist in my chapter
Wherein I have asked you
to join me to unfold new pages
So that we can reproduce
a sequel in the coming days ahead.
Death:
Among the ups and downs ,
I had my best writings
to be reproduced into editions
for generations to come.
I still ...
I still live through them
So never repent
even if hear someone says that
My Chapters have been closed.

Butterfly
by
Shashi
Look, there she is, there on the window pane
A new friend from the dreams last night
As she promised to teach me how to fly
In sunshine and in rain
She is bright and beautiful, pinker than my ma’s cheek
Her wings have so many colors
Like the rainbow I painted last summer, for Pa’s Birthday
Before he left for the war, to make money for us to eat
Tell me butterfly, how does one eat money?
How does one go to the war?
I don’t want Pa to go to the war; I don’t want any money to eat;
You know, whenever I hug him, I don’t feel hungry at all
Oh! Butterfly, why are you flying away - so far?
Out side, the day is still full of light; sure you can wait a little more?
Ma will be back soon, from her night shift, and will let you in
Don’t you see, I can not; I am in the bed, too sick to unlatch the window bar
Butterfly, my dear Butterfly, you have teach me how to fly
I promised Pa - a hug tonight, I know where he “wars” now;
Ma showed me the other night, when she cried
“There, Kalina, there he is, the Evening Star”
You know Butterfly; I love him so much,
Much more than I love Ma,
Really! You must teach me to fly, as I have to go now
You see, my Ma does not even smile much

To Each in Stardom is Born to be Forlorn
By
A. B. Thomas

To be adorned in the robe of youth is to wear upon the sleeve,
One’s desires and wish of boundless achieve,
To strut upon the spot lit center of society’s stage,
Confident that though script-less the audience will engage,
A new star with an almost impish air of mischief,
Yet instead doesn't society pan and insist youth to humbly receive?
The unwritten tome of expectation placed in civilized cage,
To sit idly whilst it is whittled down to a pamphlet page by page,
Society provides the focus to be but a player of knowledgeable disbelieve,
Whilst within deep for the improvise acted naught secretly grieve.

Clouds in The Attic
by
As she walked ahead
In her enthusiastic little hop, skip and jump - steps
I fell behind, in my own thoughts; old and aging
Yet keeping pace with her fresh world
That turns in, with a burst of rainbow
On every turn, flying like a butterfly
Across her little universe of wonder
Now she stops; the deep forest
Climbing up the steep incline of the mountain
Has her attention; complete with one hand under her chin
And I know, she knows what to ask,
With a sweet little smile behind her knit wool gloved little hand
And stump me with her wide charmed eyes
“Why those clouds are leaving the mountain alone?
Do you think Grandpa, Peakoo* will be happy without them to play?
Do you think they are coming over to play with us?
Can you give your extra blanket to put them up, in the attic for the night?
Grandpa, it’s very cold now, you know, they will shiver
Before I could think an answer and say,
“Kalina, lets go now, it’s going to rain”
She has already moved on
Playing with the soft cold breeze, moving up from the valley
With her hands out stretched, running, almost flying
Like the autumn leaves, that joined in to play, in her wake

Poem of the week (10) - Longing and Loss

Happy Weekend Poetic Friends.I welcome you all to the Poem of the Week for this week's theme Life, Loss,  Loosing, and Failures.I read many wonderful poems from talented writers and one which had my attention more was Free withing these walls.Ah! The title has so much meaning and so I read the poem which was more deeper in meaning. For those who are wondering , I am talking about Roughwaterjohn poems :)

I think it was a personal poem for Sara and since he had his linked his poem here for poetry potluck to select ,now this is here.

The poetry was overall touching and poignant and deserved to be here today

Free within these walls....

Free to fly, though kept within, the walls of those who cling,
Spirit swells, as heart burns bright, her thoughts as bird will sing.
Gaze from glass of ‘prisoned walls, she thinks and plans her day,
Words that wound she will not say, though here she may not stay.
Though loves her spirit free and bright, yet he clings too tight,
With clutch of need and grasp of doubt, still she will not fight.
For bright the light that burns within, this aged soul in youth,
Wisdom deep and heart most kind, helps deal with those uncouth.
She shares with those who share her light, but never undermines,
This need he has though clinging tight, she reads her loves dark signs.
Dark with doubt but not with pain, he fears his thoughts, not hers,
Wiser than the one who clings, her words and thoughts assures.
She views the world through curtained life, looks out on friends afar,
Though sky seems dark with lack of light, she finds a distant star.
Its light reflects the light within, she knows she need not stay,
She plays her part, still loves the one, who’s deeds have writ this play.

Poetry Picnic Week 8: Friends, Relationships and Everyone around

My friends, I am Shashi and the host for the 8th week of creativity and enjoyment at The Gooseberry Garden for Poetry Picnic Week 8.

It was great week to really read most of the posting’s this time as I was able to take out time to do that. And what I realised is that we have great talent among our selves... and I must congratulate all of you. This week is again going to be very great as we are going to talk about and share an interesting topic i.e. ‘Friends, relationships and everyone around’ so that you can talk about any one who has touched you deeply...

Friends in Cologne - Germany
But before that let me tell you what we are going to do next week...

Next week we are going talk about “Longing, Loss, Loosing and failure”  as these are the really great factors that makes us what we are... because in losing, we know us... in failures we become stronger... and longing is that makes us love more... so come on, share who made you what you are... tell me whose loss, made you the strong person that you are.. now. Share your love story that happened or did not happen and how did it affect you...

Now coming back to our topic this week....

POETRY PICNIC WK 8: Friends, relationships and everyone around’

You are mine, my best friend,
The one I can confide in, until the end.
The one who has seen every tear,
Whose hands boldly hold all of my fears.
You are mine, my other half that makes me complete,
Who never lets me feel like I am going through defeat.
You're the one who has always been there,
To show me how much that you truely care.
You are mine, my happiness in me,
Who's opened my eyes and really made me see.
Your compassion and love has shone through the clouds,
Leaving me with no more fears or doubts.
You are mine, an angel for me,
Whose smile is sent to make me happy.
The one who always has faith in your heart,
To make sure that I don't fall apart.
You are mine, without any question,
Giving me lots of hugs and affection.
You are mine, my best friend,
Whom I will always love until the very end!
I love you Lauren! Thanks for everything!

Poetry Picnic Week 1 : Adam and Eve

My friends, I am Shashi and the host for the first week of creativity and enjoyment at The Gooseberry Garden.

Lucas Cranach the Elder-Adam and Eve

It’s my pleasure to be the anchor for this week’s poetry potluck and I am grateful that all of you, friends, follow it so diligently. So every week, it’s my job to let your creativity take a leap and produce interesting thoughts in verses as well as read some beautiful creations from our very talented and creative friends.
As you are aware that this week we are going to touch upon history and biblical story of Adam and Eve. And I look forward to your creative juices flowing and making this an incredible journey of knowing each other’s thought about what we think how the whole humanity started and what do you think about it love life and belonging.... do you really believe that it was all evil that Eve wanted to get that apple and the serpent was all there waiting for it to happen.. or it’s just something that was bound to happen...

But before that let me tell you what we are going to do next week...
We will be looking at ‘The Kiss’.... inspired by Klimt’s painting, which is the most reproduced painting in the world known as ‘The Kiss’ ... I know that the first kiss of love is always the most impressionable in love and life.. and remains etched in our thoughts for forever... so come on and share your first passionate thoughts.. and your first touch of the lips in love.. and share.. whisper your inner feelings...

Now coming back to this week’s Adam and Eve topic... here is a brief note about the same followed by interesting verse’s ....

ADAM AND EVE
Adam and Eve were, according to the Book of Genesis, the first man and woman created by YHWH (the God of the Hebrew Bible).

In the second account of creation, God fashions a man from the dust and blows the breath of life into his nostrils, then plants a garden (the Garden of Eden) and causes to grow in the middle of the garden the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life. God sets the man in the garden “to work it and watch over it,” permitting him to eat from all the trees in the garden except the Tree of Knowledge, “for on the day you eat of it you shall surely die.” God brings the animals to the man for him to name. None of them are found to be a suitable companion for the man, so God causes the man to sleep and creates a woman from a part of his body. Describing her as “bone of my bones, flesh of my flesh,” the man calls his new help-mate “woman”, “for this one was taken from a man”. This sundering, a making of two from one, predicates reunification in marriage, in which two will be made one: “On account of this a man leaves his father and his mother and clings to his woman.” The chapter ends by establishing the state of primeval innocence, noting that the man and woman were naked and not ashamed, and so provides the departure point for the subsequent narrative in which wisdom is gained through disobedience at severe cost.

Now here are some interesting poetry on “Adam and Eve” and hope that you all get inspired from it to produce your own unique thoughts in verses and share...

THE FIRST LOVE OF ADAM AND EVE
From Paradise Lost by: John Milton (1608-1674)

THUS talking, hand in hand alone they passed
On to their blissful bower. It was a place
Chosen by the sov’reign Planter, when he framed
All things to Man’s delightful use; the roof
Of thickest covert was inwoven shade,
...
Such was their awe of Man. In shadier bower
More sacred and sequestered, though but feigned
Pan or Sylvanus never slept, nor nymph,
Nor Faunus haunted. Here, in close recess,
With flowers, garlands, and sweet-smelling herbs,
Espousèd Eve decked first her nuptial bed
And heavenly quires the hymenean sung,
What day the genial Angel to our sire
Brought her, in naked beauty more adorned,
More lovely than Pandora, whom the Gods
Endowed with all their gifts, and, O! Too like
In sad event, when to the unwiser son
Of Japhet brought by Hermes, she ensnared
Mankind with her fair looks, to be avenged
On him who had stole Jove’s authentic fire.
...
Text from Poetry Archive

Adam and Eve

When the first dark had fallen around them
And the leaves were weary of praise,
In the clear silence Beauty found them
And she wed them all her ways.

In the high noon of the heavenly garden
Where the angels sunned with the birds,
Beauty, before their hearts could harden,
Had taught them heavenly words.

When they fled in the burning weather
And nothing dawned but a dream,
Beauty fasted their hands together
And cooled them at her stream.

And when day wearied and night grew stronger,
And they slept as the beautiful must,
Then she bided a little longer,
And blossomed from their dust.
