Thursday Poetry Form Week 36 on Villanelle (by Jack Edwards)

Villanelle (A Direct Quotation from Poetry and Other Writing)

A villanelle is a poetry form requiring a number of refrains and a particular rhyme scheme. For detailed information of the structure,  visit below link to see how it works"

To A Sunrise Which Sets the World Alight

To a sunrise which sets the world alight,
I awake and begin my journey home
While under crimson sky the fields ignite.

From behind the hills, hot tendrils of light
Lash out at the fields so they bow alone
To a sunrise which sets the world alight.

The cool evening's frost cannot hope to fight
But instead melts as farmers work the loam,
While under crimson sky the fields ignite.

In a world mid-change, I maintain my right
So I amble, dawdle, ramble and roam
To sunrise which sets the world alight.

The low, glaring orb blasts the world so bright.
Damp grass shines and puddles glisten like chrome,
While under crimson sky the fields ignite.

When amber dawn releases this new day's might
I see the fall of the night I had known,
To a sunrise which sets the world a light
While under crimson sky the fields ignite.

Poetry Picnic Week 35: " The Month of May, Mother's Love, Spring Storms, Soil, Air..."

Architect Christopher Wren
redesigned London when
it took a forceful maverick
from ashes hence London brick.

Don’t worry that he refuses to crawl
or eat anything but bananas and bread
don’t worry about whether you read the right book
or got any of it
on video
don’t worry about his kindergarten teacher
or if he’ll always be shy
love him with vigor
love yourself just as much
don’t let anxiety
wrench your spirit shut
he chose you
your job is to be seen
so dig for your truth
and show it to him
tender and unpolished
don’t use the phrase book of anyone else
call him a tuba rumple
make up dance routines
have baths at noon
be late sometimes
just the two of you
because the sky was orange and silk
and the wind was just right
for kites.

President Barack Obama . . .
Bet you thought I would rhyme with yo mama,
But there's also hosanna and flora or fauna,
There are more rhymes with Romney — don't wanna.

Governor Willard "Mitt" Romney
Would give all of us imsomni—
If Mitt became President or even just veep,
None of us would ever get any sleep.

I DON'T KNOW WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS
by The Booth of Our Conniving

I don't know where I'm going with this
Umbrella I'm holding to keep the rain
From making an ass out of you and me,
But I have a vague feeling feelings
Will be involved, special ones for the dark
Side of a doughnut or the sigh of a wren.
It's so unlike me, though, to venture far
Without securing first a slew of notes
From emotive conductors I've had
The pleasure of being deafened by.
Perhaps it's time for me to enlist
In the army of delicate wackos who
Seem so full of themselves and life
And who constitute the human race.
Hear them singing their sweetness to
The disconsolate cumulonimbi?
I want that job and to find myself
Finishing the touches I started with you.

Poetic Reflection Week 35: on Angela Cohan

Hello.  My name is Angela Cohan.  I have written several articles,

poems and short stories.  My work has been featured in “The Iranian Jewish

Chronicle” and “OntheBus” literary journals.

I started a poetry blog two years ago.  My first poem was about the

Iraq war, titled “The Ravages of War.”  My favorite poem is about my

Grandfather called “The Thief of Time.”

Sometimes I find inspiration from a word or a phrase that I’ve heard

and think would work well in a poem.  I usually get my ideas late at night

and it takes several days for a poem to come together.  I have also written

five fictional short stories.

I love Emerson’s poems as well as Robert Frost’s poetry.

             My favorite quote is:

‘Friendship is the mirror in which you discover yourself”

             by M. Neman.

I discovered Jingle Poetry through a friend’s poetry blog.  Her name is

Lisa Thayer and the name of her website is The Poetry Juice Bar.  Her work

is simply exquisite.

It has been a pleasure to participate in Jingle Poetry Potluck, as well

as Gooseberry and JP at Olive Garden.  I have enjoyed visiting all the poets

and their wonderful and creative websites.  I think everyone in the group

has something unique to offer.

Sincerely,

Angela Cohan

Saturday Poem of the Week 35: on Mindsinger

Yay!! Weekend has finally arrived and lots of plan for fun is coming up since Miss. Sunny Rays has finally decided to visit us in our place. After a long break (I believe so), I, Uma Anandane from Inside Poem  and authoring at Perpetual Mind is again here to post about weekly  picks for Saturday Poem of the week.As usual, among the amazing submissions I had one pick to show-cast to all the Poets here.

Theme : Plants,Creatures and Cosmos
Pick : The Master Noticed
Author :  Mindsinger

The Master Noticed

I’ve never seen the ocean
but I’ve known a quiet stream,
I’ve seen it catch the sunshine,
and I’ve heard it as it seemed
to hold the wisdom of its Maker
clear within its golden gleam.

I’ve never seen the ocean,
but I’ve known a drop of dew.
I’ve seen it on the rosebud
and I know it holds a view
of worlds so wide and wonderful
that I must seek them too.

I’ve never seen the heavens
from the Master’s point of view.
But I’ve seen a gleam of starlight
on a meadow, silvery blue.
And I know these things I’ve looked upon
the Master noticed, too!

How very spiritual touch the above had even in small things we see every day.I too the liberty of not pasting the pictures that he had in his poem and I think Mr.Mindsinger won't mind it since I still captured the beauty of his poem

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to leave your comments here in JP's Olive Garden.

TA TA..see you next week  :)

Friday Poetry Blog Review Week 35 on Kim Nelson

Good morning, today's Friday Poetry Blog Review, let's take a look around Kim Nelson Writes, her blog is rich in talent and beautiful in representations...

The Path, Bold by Kim Nelson

What is myth,
Really?
Tradition
Fabled story
Heroine
Event
Well then
Given that
I AM my own myth
Gradually unfolding
Day by day
Hour to hour
Altering the course of history
For good.
Big work, this.
Vital.
Driven to be true
To future, self and path,
Dissatisfied
I’ll purify the line.
And set things right
Boldly

I Shall Carry
by Kim Nelson

In my pocket
I shall carry
all that does hold value
Hope
and Faith
a little Love, perhaps
Validation for the Work that I do
Good Wishes for others walking their path
Support for the ones now discouraged
Reinforcement for folks one day at a time
Reminders: Don’t hurry or worry
Goodness and Guidance based on the greats,
those wordsmiths who altered the future
Kindness and Honor toward others I meet
Awareness that we all endure,
are The Light
