Poetry Blog Review -Week 4- Steffi Writes

I want to start out showing you the poem that caught my eye from the blog, Steffi Writes.

The poem is titled Charade No. 1;

“The floor is blanketed with a million pieces
Shimmering, glimmering under the moonlight
The porcelain no long stands mightily
It has bent over in shame and despair.

I then brought my hand to my chest
Was shocked at the intensity
It rumbles and pounds, my head spinning
I topple down and closed my eyes.”

Part of what I like about this poem is the fact that it holds inside itself a riddle that the author, Steffi has asked us to answer in the comments of her poem if we like. Most poems tend to have layers of meaning, but seeing one that is a riddle so nicely formed and so attachable and relateable is very refreshing. I admire the creativity and connectivity of the author. The poem is beautifully written and well communicated. To me it gives off this almost magical special feeling.

I also like the layout of the poem Little Black Angel. I think it is an altogether cute and creative poem and the layout is very nice as well. Here is the first stanza of the poem;

“Eyes darting from left to right
A little girl here, an old man there
To find out that a black basket held
The sweet and curious little black angel."

Steffi’s blog has been around since last month, August 2011. The layout of this blog feels crisp and clean. I feel that it fits well with the motto that this author has displayed on their blog, “To bring back literary creativity.” Over all it is a beautiful blog and I hope to see it grow in the months and years to come.
